Commentary

Democrat
With roughly equal numbers in the weekly, occasionally, and never attend categories, Obama won the Weeklies and the Nevers by large margins (61-33 and 59-36 respectively), and broke even with Clinton (49-49) among the Occasionallies. Catholics broke for Clinton 58 percent to 42 percent. Oddly, the overall Protestant category seems to have included Mormons, and the numbers of non-Mormon Protestants and Other Christians were not sufficient to give estimates. Mormons went heavily for Obama, 61 percent to 33 percent. If the other non-Catholic Christians are added in, the “Protestant” preference for Obama is lower, 57 percent to 39 percent. Given that Mormons outnumbered the others 37 percent to 20 percent, it’s clear that the other also backed Obama, but narrowly.

Republican
Ninety percent of the voters were Mormon, and 94 percent of them voted for Romney. Enough said.
