Board Member, 2009-14, of the Marie Curie Initial Training Network in Electoral Democracy, a consortium of 11 institutions in 9 countries funded by a 3.2 Million Euro FP7 grant from the Commission of the European Communities. Every five years academic surveys of voters are conducted in all the countries that take part in elections to the European Parliament. Since 1989 these studies have been directed towards establishing a long-term time-series of datasets with many variables in common, and they have been planned and executed by a consortium of scholars from most EU countries. In 2008 a 2.4 Million Euro FP7 grant from the Commission of the European Communities was awarded to investigate the feasibility of using the EES to Provide an Infrastructure for Research on Electoral Democracy in the European Union.
