RELIGION 214: The Jews in America
Professor Ronald C. Kiener, Department of Religion
This course is designed to provide a general overview of the history
and present situation of American Judaism from both a religious and sociological
perspective. After a brief four week examination of the history of
Jews in North America, the course will focus upon "Judaism in the suburbs."
We will have one field trip during Trinity Days to New York City to take a
walking tour of the Lower East Side. We will screen one movie. Guest speakers
from the Hartford Jewish community will augment course readings
and lectures.
