Thomas Barfield is professor and chairman of the Department of Anthropology at Boston University. A specialist on pastoral nomadism in the Near East and Central Eurasia, he is the author of, The Central Asian Arabs of Afghanistan and co-author of, Afghanistan: An Atlas of Indigenous Domestic Architecture.

Edward T. Linenthal is the Edward M. Penson Professor of Religion and American Culture and Chancellor’s Public Scholar at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. His book, The Unfinished Bombing: Oklahoma City in American Memory, is due out from Oxford University Press in September 2001.

Susan Palmer teaches religion at Dawson College in Montreal. Her books include, Moon Sisters, Krishna Mothers, Rajneesh Lovers: Women's Roles in New Religions, and, AIDS and the Apocalyptic Metaphor in North America: The New Religions Respond to a Plague.
